Positioning in a matter of seconds in top palletization

Flatter, more stable and more powerful: Especially for automated loading into machine tools, SCHUNK has perfected its VERO-S NSA plus palletizing module and created its new generation NSA3. The stainless steel clamping module is part of the extensive SCHUNK VERO-S modular system for efficient clamping of workpieces. The NSA3 module is 100% compatible with the previous model in terms of assembly.

The SCHUNK pneumatic palletizing module has become an indispensable part of the interaction between the machine tool and robotic loading. With its help, pallets can be fixed on the machine table in a matter of seconds and with absolute precision. Thanks to the small design height of the modules, maximum use can be made of the working space. The integrated pallet lifting function facilitates a process-safe replacement by the robot, especially for heavy pallets.

Application expert SCHUNK has now specially optimized this maintenance-free and robust module in the new generation with regard to production without human intervention. The design height of the new, more compact NSA3 module has been further reduced. The special shape of the module prevents the formation of clusters of chips or cooling lubricant. In addition, the integrated cleaning function has been improved. An even more powerful blow-off function now keeps not only the front contact surface, but also the short cone and the clamping slide cap free of chips. These improvements and additional face contact monitoring using dynamic pressure enable trouble-free continuous operation.

Robust and dimensionally stable

Clamping of modules based on the form contact principle is performed using spring force without external input and is self-locking, so even in the event of a drop in pressure, the entire pulling force remains preserved. This force reaches a value of 3,000 N and can increase to a remarkable 10,000 N when the turbo function is activated. The improved dimensional stability of the module body ensures reliable handling of higher overturning moments and transverse forces. Clamping pallets can be placed on NSA3 modules within seconds and with a repeatability accuracy of < 0.005 mm. This is possible thanks to highly accurate centering with a short taper. Depending on the application, any number of modules can be combined.

Integrated monitoring as standard

For process-safe pallet exchange, all monitoring such as "module open" or "module closed" is already integrated in the NSA3 module as standard. The clamping rings are located on four surfaces on the outer diameter, which are monitored using dynamic pressure. Thanks to hermetic sealing and stainless steel construction, the module does not require maintenance throughout its lifetime.
Clamping modules with zero point VERO-S form the basis of SCHUNK's extensive modular system of clamping technology for automated loading into machines. In combination with clamping means and robotic modules, a wide range of clamping can be realized flexibly and with a short set-up time.
